As you know, since Jan. 1st 2013 we have an updating of ROHS regulation as for new directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2011 (RoHS Recast). 

By now almost all of our parts are made in this RoHS2 compliance.

As we all know, Suntan is a Hong Kong based manufacturer of Trimming Potentiometers, Capacitors, Varistors, the capacitor is its main product. Sales of Suntan Trimming potentiometers keep increasing these years, they rank as the second big series besides capacitors in Suntan, various resistances besides standard ones are requested, by using different resistance element, we get different resistance range in order to meet customer's requirement.

Trimming Potentiometers have a resistive element made of carbon or cermet (a combination of CERamic and METal), or of resistance wire wound on an insulated copper mandrel.

The main advantages of wirewound trimmers are their low temperature coefficient, higher power dissipation, lower noise, tighter resistance tolerance, and, when used as a variable resistor, the excellent current-carrying capacity through the wiper due to the lower contact resistance. Also, their long-term resistance stability with time and temperature is slightly better than cermet.

Cermet trimmers provide a wider resistance range (10 ohms to 5 megohms, versus a maximum of 100K ohms for wirewound). Also, the wiper output can be set closer to the desired value since the resistive element presents a continuous contact  surface for the wiper, as opposed to the discrete turns (resolution) of the wirewound. Other advantages with cermet are the lower reactance in high-frequency applications, the smaller sizes available, and the generally lower price than wirewound types.

Suntan Trimming  potentiometer is an electrical component with a variable resistance.

In electrical engineering parlance, the term "potentiometer" is used in either one of two ways. It may refer to an instrument that measures an unknown emf or voltage by comparing it to a standard emf. In this capacity, it is functioning as a null instrument; it permits precision measurement by adjusting a value of a circuit element until a meter reads zero. Alternatively, "potentiometer" may refer to an electronic component that is used to vary resistance in a circuit.

A potentiometer is also referred to as a variable resistor or pot. They have three terminals, where the one in the middle is known as the wiper, and the other two are known as ends. The wiper is a movable contact where resistance is measured with respect to it and either one of the end terminals.

They are useful for circuits where the resistance needs to be dynamically changed to control the current. They are also popular as voltage dividers .
