Suntan Silver mica (SM) capacitors are high precision, stability and reliability capacitors. They are available in small values, and are mostly used at high frequencies.

Generally known as silver mica capacitors, these rendered clamped mica capacitors obsolete. Instead of being clamped with foils these are assembled from sheets of mica coated on both sides with deposited metal. The assembly is dipped in epoxy. The advantages are:

1.greater stability, since there are no capacitive airgaps that can change dimension

2.airtight enclosure removes the risk of oxidation or corrosion of plates or connections

3.greater capacitance per volume, since

4.there are no airgaps between plates and mica,

5.the conducting surfaces can be thinner.

Suntan aluminum Electrolytic capacitors store charge in a chemical paste called an electrolyte. They have large capacitance values, and are inexpensive and durable. Electronic designers typically use electrolytic capacitors to remove electrical noise from circuits. Since these capacitors are polarized, you must pay attention to the positive and negative leads or risk an explosion. When you use electrolytic aluminum capacitor, note that it has its capacitance and voltage values clearly printed on the body of the part. 

Electrolytic capacitors have capacitance ratings in the range of 10 to 200,000 microfarads. The voltage rating is the maximum voltage to which the capacitor should be subject. Maximum voltages for electrolytic generally range from 20 to 600 volts.

In a way, a capacitor is a little like a battery. Although they work in completely different ways, capacitors and batteries both store electrical energy. If you have read How Batteries Work, then you know that a battery has two terminals. Inside the battery, chemical reactions produce electrons on one terminal and absorb electrons on the other terminal. A capacitor is much simpler than a battery, as it can't produce new electrons -- it only stores them.

In theory, the dielectric can be any non-conductive substance. However, for practical applications, specific materials are used that best suit the capacitor's function. Mica, ceramic, cellulose, porcelain, Mylar, Teflon and even air are some of the non-conductive materials used. The dielectric dictates what kind of capacitor it is and for what it is best suited. Depending on the size and type of dielectric, some capacitors are better for high frequency uses, while some are better for high voltage applications. During Oct. 13 to 16, Suntan attended ElectronicAsia 2011 in Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

On this fair, Suntan showed full range of products through poster, various samples, brochures and professional sales' introduction. Data shows that more and more people start using multi-layer ceramic capacitors/MLCC, and increasingly optimistic about their new circuit design applications. In the past five to ten years, MLCC and tantalum capacitor capacitance of unit volume has been increased 10 to 100 times as before, MLCC application areas have gradually expanded to previously dominated by the tantalum capacitor site. Currently, MLCC and tantalum capacitors is competing between 1.0 to 100uF market. Many circuit design found that the new generation of large capacitance MLCC can better meet their needs, and higher production level (currently producing about 600 billion, and tantalum capacitors for 25 billion). Moreover, manufacturers of basic metal electrode and technological improvements have greatly reduced the cost of MLCC, which also increased victory chips for MLCC occupation tantalum capacitor market.

And at present ceramics are most cost affective in small sizes. Very large ceramics are a bit of a challenge, especially in SMD.
